Matariki-Matawai style

To celebrate Matariki we thought about growing food. Garlic is traditionally planted on the shortest day so that's what we did.

We read stories about Matariki and named the seven stars.

  1. Dear Room 3,
I like the way you have been studying Matariki and your learning has taken you outside and inside.
I have learnt something new about planting Garlic. Thank you. I will have to tell my husband who is the gardener in our house. He better hurry up and plant his garlic now.
Did yo know that they are now saying that Matariki is actually 9 stars. Here is a link to read more about this.
